Done Up Like the Mona Lisa!

Well, I think we have a candidate for best panel of the year! And when I say "best," I really mean "most capable of disappointing and delighting me at the same time." THIS is Queen Bee? This?? It's just Margo with her bun down! I mean, she's not even wearing star-shaped sunglasses or anything. And don't tell me that's because she's done up like the Mona Lisa; just because you part your hair down the middle and smirk doesn't mean you're done up like the Mona Lisa! The Mona Lisa doesn't wear magenta!

I know this isn't fair, but just for comparison's sake, let's put them side by side, shall we?
The smirk is actually pretty good. But she should've shaved off her eyebrows. By the way, I just found out that I LOVE saying "done up like the Mona Lisa." I love it! I encourage you all to find a way to slip this into everyday conversation today.

This is definitely not one of those "separated at birth" situations. By all means slip the phrase into your everyday conversation, and the more inappropriately the better. "I got stopped by this cop this morning, and he was all done up like the Mona Lisa." Or: "Did you see Obama on TV last night? He was done up like the Mona Lisa."

I can't believe they let her leave the house like that, all done up like the Mona Lisa!

A frame? Seems like a rule to me. I thought Queen Bee would draw outside the lines. Poor execution. I do like that we now have an explanation for why the background people are all the same color. Queen Bee's minions spray painted everybody. Maggie, you now have the perfect Halloween costume.
Me: "What are you supposed to be?"
Maggie: "I'm done up like the Mona Lisa"

That's the best Queen Bee's got? I guess Lady Gaga can breathe a sigh of relief now.

This is so much more stupendously ridiculous than I ever could have dreamed. It's such an enormous let down that I can't help but be absolutely delighted by it. Well played, A3G, well played.

Is this what Queen Bee is going to to when she performs at the Super Bowl this year?

You are so right, Anonymous. What an excellent Halloween costume! Guys, we should all be doing this. If you have a magenta frock and a frame, you have a costume.

P.S. That was it for Art Without Rules! Thanks for coming out, everyone. See you next year, when we'll aim to double our budget to $150.

Previous comment deleted when I noticed a dangling participle.

We laugh, but the History of Art students at my daughter's school get extra credit for dressing like a famous painting on Halloween. My daughter got high marks for spending the day as "Jackson Pollock's No. 5," but wait 'till I suggest she get all done up like the Mona Lisa.
