I couldn't tell whether Ari was going to go along with this or not, but I have to guess that he's not by his deft gambit of bringing up Tommie thereby killing any kind of mood Jack was trying to establish.
Did Tommie ever have a CHANCE to say anything? Between cleaning out stalls, passing out in her sloppy joe sandwich and creepily snuggling with a deer, she has not had a moment to talk!
Lily has much more time to talk, er, bleat.
"Her fiance died, Ari? Wow. This means I'm gonna have to make her work extra hard now! Thanks for the heads up. By the way, do you happen to know if she can dead-lift 200 lbs? Never mind, we'll find out tomorrow!"
Of course the menfolk are the ones to talk over Tommie's situation without her. Do you expect a woman to have a voice? Margaret Shulock doesn't, obviously. But then Margaret Shulock thinks it's somehow feasible to have a fawn in a NYC apartment, so...
I feel the need of intellectual stimulation. What's Luann been up to?
