Poor Trey

I'm not quite sure how I can follow the Spaghetti Song. I really think Maggie should record that for us all to hear. Come on, Mags.

Anyway, who's that guy Margo's talking to? Is that Rick? He gets around. Oh wait no, that's Trey. Remember Trey? I don't know when he last appeared, but I'd estimate it was probably like, July? I know it was before Margo's storyline took a detour from her "love" life and into Art Without Rules, and subsequently pretty much completely disappeared while Lu Ann's romance and Tommie's inevitably failed career took over (mostly the Lu Ann thing). So he's basically a double-reject from A3G. Oh, wait, make that triple-reject. Ouch, Margo. He just weaseled his way back into the plot, the least you could do is let him stick around for dinner.

Introductions

Empty promises, Margo? That's so like you.

Money

Trey, don't lie. You talked to Margo about where the money's coming from. Or don't you remember this little conversation?
Anyway, thank goodness Margo's coming to crash this party. There's only so many times I can point out STU IS NOT IN THE ROOM, why did they bother setting it up like he would be??

Exciting

"Get this, I'm sleeping with her!"

Stu, chime in any time with some pearls of wisdom. ...Stu?

Creative Choices

Stu and Karl are both very interested in Trey's career, and Stu has proven his interest by leaving the room immediately. It gets crowded in there with three people, I'm sure he just wanted Trey to feel comfortable. His mysterious disappearance probably has nothing with the free soft pretzels on the third floor this afternoon.

AHHHHH HAHAHAHAHA

There's something about Margo wearing white rubber gloves that makes all of this unsettling. Normally, Margo absently touching her face and laughing like an evil robot would be the height of entertainment for me, but with the gloves it reads "serial killer." We all joke about Margo being a blood-thirsty maneater, but is this the week we witness the act?

Hold On, Trey

Uh oh. Margobot is displeased. Circuit overload. Danger. Danger. Right arm malfunction. Duck for cover, Trey! When that right arm goes, you're not going to want to be anywhere near it.

A Modest Proposal

That's right, fellas! We women, we hear the word "proposal" and we automatically jump to marriage, whether we're appalled by the idea or not. So watch your choice of words! Less ambiguous word choices: offer, appeal, proposition, invitation, suggestion, submission, plan of action. I'd probably go with "proposition."

Ripped Where?!

Look how joyless that kiss is, even with the Light of Smooches radiating off of them. That's how Barbie and Ken dolls look when you shove their faces together, hoping against hope you can make their marriage work (for Skipper's sake!), but it never really works out, does it? Both of them are working late hours (Ken as a model, Barbie as a teacher/doctor/rock star/mermaid whose hair changes color in warm and cold water), and before you know it, a fight breaks out! Ken slaps Barbie in the face, but then Barbie kicks her perfectly straight leg right in Ken's groin! Barbie runs out the door and hops in the convertible, but it's dark out and she's crying and SHE'S HEADING STRAIGHT FOR DEAD MAN'S CURVE!! And... THERE'S A RACCOON IN THE ROAD!! Barbie swerves to miss it, and TUMBLES OFF THE CLIFF!!! AHHHHHH!!! Later Ken finds her in the hospital and brings flowers, but Barbie has amnesia and doesn't remember him and she starts going out with Doctor Rudolfo, but it turns out that Rudolfo is evil and planted the raccoon in the road in the first place.

So.... at least Margo and Trey don't have Skipper to worry about.

Herriman+Goodfellas

I'm sorry, these plots have been moving so slowly and boringly that I couldn't bring myself to blog, even on the fact that no, Trey will NEVER take off his jacket and scarf. I only wanted to comment that Mr. Fowler

  1. seems very nice

  2. looks like a mob boss

  3. will probably make Trey an offer he can't refuse

I Love You, Man

Well, it sure started snowing all of the sudden! I... I got nothing.

Like a Ton of Bricks

Oh. So nevermind about the gay thing. Maybe. But also nevermind about the "Bring Your Boyfriend to Work" thing being any kind of a deterrent to true love and true marriage and truly moving into a Murder Shack.

Life and Stuff

Commenter Gerard is really pushing hard for a controversial storyline where Margo has an unplanned pregnancy, but you know what else has never happened in Apartment 3-G? A gay couple! Look how cute these two look together. All smiles and giggles. At some point during their tour of the house, their hands will accidentally touch. A spark. Awkward eye contact. Nervous laughter. Trey will point out something about the architecture and that will be the end of it... for now.

Want to Take Her For a Ride?

WHOA!! On Lu Ann's behalf, I'm offended. Preview from Sunday's strip: Paul beats the crap out of Trey for talking smack about his girlfriend.

Mixed Emotions

I'm not sure how I feel. Is it nostalgia, regret, melancholy, grief? Sorrow that the man I used to love is gone forever? Guilt that I must put him behind me? Or is it lust?

Rich Little Poor Boy

It's essential to look prosperous, even if you've sold all your shirts and you're down to your last jacket and scarf that you're forced to wear indoors, day after day, just to cover your bare chest.

Working for Pennies

"You know, I used to work in a sweatshop! So anyway, let's make out."

I guess that's progress!

Walking After Midnight

I can't help but think Gerard from yesterday's comments is right. I've been fixated on the murder thing. What if we're coming up to a wacky plot about someone stealing Trey's car--with Aunt Iris still in the back seat?? Another possible plot: Margo and Trey's faces meld together permanently. Hijinks ensue.

Uncharted Waters

Gee, Trey, I know driving your date to an unfamiliar, remote location is the latest thing and all, but you're not the only ones in the car. How can you expect Margo to get that queasy feeling of love/panic if Aunt Iris is right there, be it half-conscious? She's going to want more diner food any second now, if she hasn't melted away completely.

What a World, What a World...!

Aunt Iris has been reduced to a pile of hair and a shoulder. Sad. It's tough being a third wheel.
