Negativity

I guess that's why the relationship with Margo didn't work.

Uptown

I've said it once and I'll say it again: Hollywood is unforgiving! Are we sure we're not back at the ranch with Jack and Carol?

International Man of Mystery

Wait...didn't we already find out that one Greg Cooper was James Bond?  Like a year ago?  That's why he went to London and gave Margo an emerald pre-engagement ring.  Is Lu Ann Skyler playing coy because she doesn't want to watch Margo to kill her in a fit of rage stroke when she brings up Greg's name?  Or is this obvliviousness part of her method acting?

Not Even a Hint

Look at Margo's pure dismay. "Could it be possible that you really know this little about the movie you were cast for? Did you even talk to the actual casting director? Do you know for sure that it wasn't your mom on the other line?"

Typically, there is a hint of who's going to play James Bond: the guy who played him in the previous film. He usually has a pretty good shot at the role, Skyler. But I guess I could see Greg Cooper going Lazenby... rejecting the role after one film, growing a beard and long hair... or in this case, growing an amorphous hat and overcoat.

Stalking Margo

Margo assumes this because, as the villain, she is the star of 3G.

Also, seriously, Skyler? You're a successful actress in a James Bond movie who takes a completely unknown role and stalks her own publicist? Are you sure you haven't been cast in James Dong: Triple X 7?

Latest Conquest

Wait a second Margo, I'm confused: do you mean my military campaign against the Huns or—OH, no, you probably mean the movie!

I hope we do get a couple of days of description of the plot, because I would love to hear Margaret Shulock's interpretation of a Bond movie. "It's called Dr. Live and Let Gold Dying Twice Diamonds is Not Enough. James Bond is back, and this time, it's personal! I'll play the part of Lulu Kachuchu, a lady romantically spurned by Bond, which is enough of a reason for her to try to blow up London, because, men! What can we do without them? Eh? Margo?"

No Problem

Wow, the intervening months have not been kind to Skyler.  She's graduated from the crew neck tee of the bloom of her youth to the blouse of her womanhood.  The industry is very hard on women.

Where in the world is this storyline going?  Gabby and Martin getting married, Margo verbally berating everyone around her and the return of an incidental character?

At the All-Night Diner

 Thursday March 12, 2015

Friday March 13, 2015
I have nothing to say about this fugue state we appeared to have entered on Thursday. I'll just say, Skyler, OUCH. I thought she was going to be that random waitress Thelma, but no, just your average blockbuster Hollywood actress, dressed to the top button. She is looking a little worse for the wear. Hollywood/Great Britain ages a person I guess. Not a lot of recurring roles for Bond girls, maybe she's coming back as M?

Forgotten

Every time I load one of the strips from this storyline, I think "Oh, Lu Ann and Margo are having a conversation in their apartment."  Because that's what this is.

I don't think a publicist is just supposed to answer your questions.  I think they're supposed to tell you to update your look and get you booked on like Live with Kelly and Michael to talk about your upcoming projects.  Or at least get you a sponsorship deal with Hanes Her Way.

Sort of a Jumble

Aw yeah! Time to see the maestro at work. Time to see why Margo makes the big bucks. Time to see why M and M Agency pulls in all the Bond girls. Just sit back in your tiny yellow chair and watch the magic happen.

Margo reveal her first step to a successful client relationship: make the client tell you how you're going to help them.

Shut Up

I am so happy to have Margo back. Just look at her. Only Margo can say "No problem" and really mean "I will destroy you and everyone you love.

Impressed

Ha ha ha. Oh Skyler. Soon enough you'll learn that when it comes to Margo, no one is easy to work with.

Great Instincts

All blonde incidental characters will now be played by Lu Ann Powers: Through the Ages.  Also, I'm incredibly uncomfortable with the idea of Margo returning a compliment.  I expect nothing less than scathing criticism.

Evan Was Telling Me Lies

Wh—SKYLAR ROAN! I love it when they bring back characters that seemed totally disposable at the time! But I guess once the Winwood Talent Agency folded like a cheaply made Manhattan apartment after a homemade bomb went off, Skyler was out an agent. And obviously there are only two talent agencies to pick from in New York.

Ah, the simpler times. Remember that dude who dressed up like the Gorton's fisherman, I think his name was Evan Grah—NOPE, Margo has decreed we shall never speak of him again! Let us put all thoughts of him the vault with our feelings about Greg Cooper and What-'s-his-face Mills and that architect dude that was hanging around for a while. Vault it!

Turkey Day Recap

I hope all of our loyal readers had delightful Thanksgivings!

Thursday, November 22nd

I'm pretty sure that gentlemanliness is not measured in inches.  That's something entirely different Greg, remember to treat her like your little sister!

Friday, November 23rd

Can they even afford to even mention James Bond in this strip?  I hope that doesn't mean they're cutting Frank's home health care budget.  Also, I highly doubt they are filming a James Bond movie because Greg's extremely not British.  And wasn't Skyler's hair a completely different color?

Saturday, November 24th

You voluntarily left the best PR agency in the world?  Margo Magee doesn't like someone?  Obviously Skyler hasn't tried to ply her with canned take out and The Best of Sinatra.  It's guaranteed to make Margo forget that she hates you for a full five minutes.  It was great knowing you Evan, Margo's most trusted and soon to be eviscerated assistant.  I wonder how many babies Tommie has brought into the world?

That's Show Business

Thursday November 8, 2012

Friday November 9, 2012
So all this time Evan has been running a talent poaching scam for the Windwood Agency, the most prestigious agency in New York! Huh. Why didn't Skyler just go there first? I mean, how did Margo get her in the first place? How is she getting any business? Did she just hang a "PR for Sale" sign out the window and watch the big-idea-tiny-talents flock to her?

Margo is Going to Drop You

Margo is going to drop you, Skyler. She's going to drop you like a sack of hammers.

Evan's hardly even being sneaky, because Margo has so little regard for her clients that she probably would've dropped Skyler just for having Lu Ann's haircut. What is Skyler even upset about? Did she even meet Margo once? If she's going to be Candy Sweet (which, by the way, what? are Westerns finally coming back?), she can probably do better than Margo "I'm bored with the gallery, I bet I'd be a great publicist!" Magee.

For Real

You can't really blame Evan for being a little sneaky here. First of all, it appears he's sleep-talking, so I think that makes it OK. Also, Margo would probably destroy Skyler's career out of spite, since, as we've established, she's not a very good publicist, and she is also extremely jealous. And that's why we love her.

PS, I'd like to take this time to give a shout out to my peeps on the east coast. I was entirely unaffected by Sandy, being 3000 miles away, so I had no excuse for lagging on the blog. But, I'm glad you girls are safe!

Oh, Honey...

We already knew Margo was a bad person, and suspected that she wasn't very good at her job... but wow, Skyler has low self-esteem. Grateful to be the client of someone who, it seems, has no big clients to speak of and treats the few she has like crap? Oh, honey.

Ohhhh, honey. Yeah, not only does she allow Margo to walk all over her, but apparently all it takes is a few well-place compliments and she's all over Evan. Evan, of all people. Well, maybe he gave her a really good neck massage...

It Feels LIke A Lie

Didn't Evan just ask her to go to a bunch of events?  Isn't that what celebrities typically spend all their non-movie filming time doing?  It's not like he's asking you to endorse Mexican diet pills or something.  You're going to get eaten alive in this business, Skyler.  I love Margo's dog-like hearing for sycophantic compliments.
