Don't horses usually have awesome names, like "Duchess" or "Sparkle" or "No-FaceMarie"? Oh well. This whole strip is great is many many absurd ways, but let's take a special moment to recognize how wonderful the middle panel of Tommie super theatrically getting thrown by "the mare" is:
Out, out, brief candle! Also, ouch!!
Joking aside, I think this is the first time in A3G history that I've looked at one of their outfits and thought: I want that! White pants are so cool. I had a pair in eighth grade and I stained them instantly. Can't say I would be brave enough to wear white at a large animal vet/dude ranch.

Plus, you usually say "Ouch!" when you land on the hard ground, not when you first leave the saddle.
I suspect the white pants were supposed to be jeans, but our colorist friend didn't read the email.... again!
After getting thrown off a horse you need to get back on. I think getting back on is the first hurdle. Her hair looks like she fell into a puddle.
You don't even say "ouch" until you realize you've hurt something. You say "oof!" or "ffffuuuuck!" You have to use your imagination to realize she's getting bucked off and not just pinching her privates in her hot white pants.
Speaking of, I'd commend the fashionable pants if it wasn't obvious that the colorist just gave up here. "I'll just keep 'em white. Much easier than a 'select + F4" command. I'll keep the saddle panel white, too, because really, WGAS?"
"The Mare". "The Colt". C'mon, Jack if you're going to befriend a poor dumb animal, it deserves an actual name, like Lily, or Luanne.
"No-FaceMarie" is just too good to let pass; (props to the writer of the "Mr Ed" TV show theme:)
"A horse is a horse, of course, of course;
And no one can talk to a horse of course,
Unless of,course, that talking horse is Noo-FaceMarie.
People Yakkety Yak a streak and waste your time of day,
But No-FaceMarie will rarely speak,
Cuz her face has been melted away
The nightmare vision you can’t divorce
From memory no matter how you force
The ghastly image of that horse
Named Noo-faceMarie
