Naw. Hemorrhoids bother you when you're walking, also. I think we're supposed to believe that Tommie hurt her butt falling off the horse even though she never hit the ground!
I was going to make a joke about how Jack asking if Tommie could walk besides the mare was pretty condescending. However, upon second thought, Jack is right to check to see whether Tommie can handle basics such as walking, holding a tether, etc. I'm sure he strongly suspects that if you throw chewing gum into that mix disaster would be soon to follow.
