Okay, this is kind of embarrassing to confess, but even though I live in New Jersey, I don't spend that much time in New York City. Like, at all. All I know is that I like to party in Koreatown. Could someone who lives in New York, or knows New York, or at least watches
Sex in the City, tell me how justified Bobbie's reaction is?

I stayed on the Lower East Side this summer, in Stuyvesant Town! All the lines get kind of blurry, because technically Stuy Town is it's own place, but whatever. Historically the Lower East Side was a poor working class area, populated mostly by immigrants. Now it's been divided up and includes Chinatown, Alphabet City, The Bowery, Little Italy and the East Village. The East Village used to be full of hippies, beantiks, punks, riots, protests, etc.
So I bet Bobbie would be horrified to learn that any gentleman that she associates with would hang out down there, let alone move there! But now it's just full of weird hipster college kids. Maybe this brunette is quite a bit younger than Bobbie? Scandalous!
Oh, so THAT'S where Chinatown is! No wonder she's shocked, she probably hasn't seen an ethnic person since she moved into this strip.
