Did Tommie get furloughed from her federal nursing job and now she feels like there's nothing for her in America? I guess it's nice that Ms. Shulock gave at least a feeble explanation for Tommie's absence, although honestly I don't think anyone even remembers what she looks like.
I'm disappointed though, I thought that scene between Cole and Lu Ann was going somewhere! Lu Ann with her shoes kicked off, Cole clearly staring at her butt, everyone getting delirious on cups of coffee—and then, Marty busting in, drunk and angry, to find them canoodling on the green cameo chair! Is something like that going to happen? Eventually?

Perhaps they're just going to get rid of Tommie altogether! But then nurse Claire would have no one to sugarcoat things to... ah well, here is to hoping anyway!
GOD Margo, I can't remember to tell you every single time mutual something happens with that other girl who pays rent!
I don't remember why Tommie is in Italy. Was some relative Italian?
Nurses must make great money or Tommie is shacking up with her Italian lover.
They really should just move these two into Apt 2G and just admit that Tommy is really unnecessary to this strip. She was so bland that I literally forgot she was missing from this strip. Three is sometimes a crowd.
I think Tommie is just in the strip to provide fodder for Margo's anger and contempt.
Actually, I think that's pretty much everyone's purpose.
"And, you know, it's Tommie so... who cares."
Thank you so much for pointing out Cole's leering at Lu Ann's butt, while nonchalantly mentioning his daughter's smoking and drinking. "Dat ass... reminds me that I need to rein in Marty's behavior!"
Tuesday 10/8: Lu Ann speaks the most spirited dialogue we've heard in ages in A3G. "3 days with Zoey Ziggler in the changing room from Hades" - is that from Dante's Inferno or did Shulock comes up with it all on her own?
There was so much debate about Tommie I decided to go straight to the source and talked to Ms. Shulock. When she heard how concerned we were with Tommie she was kind enough to share Tommie’s postcards to America with me and in turn I’d like to share them with you guys. Here’s the first one!
Week 1 – Tommie arrives in Rome
“Hi Roomies! Mom and I got to Italy A-OK, and guess who we found here in Rome? AUNT IRIS! It turns out she thought she was helping an old Italian man who’d dropped his camera right at her feet and after she allowed him to take her to dinner who did it turn out to be? Silvio Berlusconi! Well, long story short they’re now the best of friends. Why, Mother and I are even invited to a party of his! It’s a funny thing though, I can’t seem to find “bunga-bunga” in the phrasebook. It’s a funny word, don’t you think?
Anyhoo, I have to get ready for the party; Italy is SUCH fun!
Ciao for now!
Tommie”
What nerve! Who could forget what I look like?! My picture is right at the top of the blog title!
Shulock would have trouble braiding hair because she sure can't weave 3 characters into her story. It wasn't too long ago that Tommie was the central figure, appearing in a musical. Then she started pulling double shifts at the hospital (perhaps an important job, but boring)and then disappeared altogether. Did she go her mother? You can't expect me to remember that far back.
