Quite an Honor

I'm completely baffled by this development. It's only been a month since Lu Ann even proposed this class! Are we to believe that in that time, 1. Lu Ann organized some kind of curriculum, 2. Margo effectively publicized it, and 3. a bunch of war orphans actually showed up to multiple classes? All in a month's time?? I don't know which element of that is the most unbelievable.

And THEN "New in New York" is like, "Wow, this art therapy class that started two weeks ago for war veterans....' children... is something more tourists should know about, because it's good, and it's so gall-dern CHEAP! We'll put it on the short list of what's apparently a competition to determine what's the newest in New York."

The containment field that keeps Lu Ann's head from devolving into jelly seems to start breaking down in the second panel of each strip.

I can go for months on end without seeing a single white turtleneck in Manhattan.

@Barbara, You must not live in A3-G Land Manhattan, then. Good thing! If you did you'd be blue or lavender!!

Maggie,

As someone who spent years setting up new, community-based programs, I'm also baffled by Lu Ann's sudden success. Hell, it takes more than a month just to make a budget, source materials and sort out liability insurance -- if you're working full-time.

The only explanation I can think of is that Margaret Shulock has never done anything in her whole life except sit around reading Romance novels. That explains crap such as "...they disappeared into the mist, which didn't even kill them..." and successful programs being developed, being implemented and becoming known in only a month.

n New York City. By a newbie. Working part-time. Without much money.

Oy.
