Mighty Hunter

Ugh. Talking about this strip has started feeling like telling someone about my most boring dreams. "So I was outside saying goodbye to this guy, who was chasing ghosts through upstate New York on horseback or something, and then suddenly I was inside wearing a different shirt, and I was holding this cat squirrel thing I guess? And I was saying it couldn't sit on my lap, and it wasn't, it was just kind of floating there, but then suddenly I was sitting down and it WAS on my lap? And I was demanding it catch me a mouse? I don't know. Is this boring you?"

This is really the most psychedelic story ever. Sometimes I wonder if Frank Bolle is going a little senile and is only capable of drawing semi-random scenes and Shulock is scrambling to come up with a story for the pictures instead of vice-versa.

It would sort of make sense if the pictures were put in out of order. Then she'd be standing up & getting going.

It would still be completely pointless, just less weird.

This is all so ambiguous that it's driving me crazy. Is Carol running the vet business now? Does she live with Jack? Is she a vet? Where is Jack going? What's up with the bleeting deer, now? What does Tommie do besides shovel manure from one or two horses? And by the way, didn't she have any obligations following the untimely death of her fiance? Funeral? Memorial service? Matters of the estate? Yes, Maggie, this is all like a vague, boring dream.

It's almost like Shulock is hearing comments about how terribly boring this story line is and is like "Oh? You think it's boring, eh? I'll show you boring!!" Challenge accepted!

And yes, that has to be a squirrel. Or... something... not of this world. I guess I'm glad it didn't bleat?

I really like Lu Ann's new yellow blouse! But who is "Carol"?

Meroow!

I think your commentary is making this strip so worthwhile right now! Gotta grasp at something, right?

I love cats, so I'll stretch my imagination and accept that thing as a cat. Hey, wouldn't it be great if Freddy the "cat" decided thar Lily was a giant mouse a la Sylvester and the baby kangaroo?

I think Shulock is still working through her divorce. After her husband left her, she adopted a deformed cat and sat around for quite awhile. Next, we'll see Carol decide to become a comics writer!

Dawn Weston's Evil Twin wins for "best ongoing joke that it took me literally weeks to catch on to."
