Hurtful Gossip

Oh, to be a fly on the wall to witness Tina's hurtful gossip about Tommie. How many of the following phrases do you think came up?
  • fish-lipped
  • beady-eyed
  • smelly turtleneck'd
  • amorphous haircut
  • cervidaphile
  • manure-shoveler
  • works her head off
  • falls asleep in her dinner
  • had an Italian fiance that no one ever met, not even once
  • "the funny one"

Am I the only one who remembers that James Whatsit Alesworthy was British and a buyer for Harrods? The comment of the week over at Comics Curmudgeon refers to him as a pilot, for jeebus sake!

Doesn't anyone remember how hilarious it was that he was going to Vermont for some unstated business-related reason? Remember the speculation that he was going to corner the market on cheese or perhaps maple syrup??

Oh, how soon we forget these generic fiances! Oh, the humanity!!

Nooooooooooooo! Italian finance! I corrected it, but I can never correct... my own shame.

I am guessing that the 'gossip' was all about how Tommie is some big city gal from (Pace Picante voice) Neeew York City. Which, as I understand it, can be one of the nastiest things you could say about someone in some parts of the country.

I like that they had to specify Tina spreads HURTFUL gossip. Not the normal fun kind!

Also missing from the bullet points, hopefully Tina noticed Tommie's star-making turn in I Dressed in the Dark! (Although it would be fair if she didn't recognize her based on the "after" look.)

Thanks for the secret message, Maggie. I knew I recognized it from somewhere, and now I can't get it out of my head.

By the way, why is Tommie calling Lu Ann "Carol"? Is that some kind of sophisticated, New York, hipster thing?

Tommie IS the funny one, though. Looks funny, acts funny, and sure smells funny!

(Aaaand, I learned a new word today, thanks! I will try very hard to work "cervidaphile" into a conversation sometime.)
