You Need Help

Thanks but no thanks, random stranger dude who's probably some form of Eric Mills! Margo's ready for a fight. With one upward stroke of her index finger, she's obliterated Main Street, USA. Next, it'll be your almost-but-not-quite-matching blazer. Margo don't play.

If this turns into a storyline where Diane is practicing necromancy in order to mess around with Margo, A3G will go down as the greatest supernatural themed comic strip of all time.

If this was Main Street USA, Margo would be taken away, either ny the cops or the paramedics. In New York City, maybe not.

I like how these days every panel has a new guest cast. Panel One stars Jonathan Harris with Deep Roy as Margo. Panel Two stars Newt Gingrich with Gilbert Gottfried as Margo.

Now that Margo's getting agitated, her telekinetic powers over time and space are running amok. She's already wished all those buildings away! And it's good that you made the buildings go away, Margo. It's a real good thing you did. It's good that you turned people into giant bobbleheads. Margo, please wish this whole storyline into the cornfield, and don't hurt me...

Anyway, the few surviving people in Manhattan will rebuild, and in just a few months Manhattan will be back to having two-story buildings. Unless, of course, Margo destroys all life first. This could be Jerome Bixby's "It's a Good Life", or it could be H.G. Well's "The Man Who Could Work Miracles"... either way, we're probably all going to die.

And in Saturday's strip, "The Tim & Eric Non-Awesome Show" has special guest stars David Duchovny and Jack Palance in panel 1, and Little Face Mitt Romney and Conan O'Brien in panel 2!

Wow, I wasn't expecting "Apartment 3-G" to start doing political humor, like it's "Doonesbury"'s little brother who's not allowed to have real scissors.

But the parade of guest stars has just begun. Who will show up on Sunday? Michael Dukakis and Carrot Top? Adlai Stevenson and Tennessee Ernie Ford? It's worth tuning in just for these cameos! They're crazy! Just like Margo. And everyone who writes the strip, reads the strip, or listens to me rant about the strip.

poor Frank Bole-he has to put his face morphing artwork on Maggie Shulock's demented scripts-i was enjoying Frank's vision of Manhattan -with its wooden outbuildings and bucolic tree lined streets-but now he will have to come up with his idea of what Bellvue looks like once they come for Margo with the net

Sunday's guest stars include Peter Cushing, Robert Vaughn, and Peter Capaldi as First Eric, Tim, and Second Eric! I haven't yet been able to identify the three women who are playing Margo, but they sure as heck aren't triplets unless two of them had chin unsharpening surgery.

A3G bloggers, we need help! Who are Eric and Tim? I promise I won't yell "Stop it!" if you try to help.

Maggie explained Eric the other day, but Tim is a mystery to me, too. He called Eric "Bro" but is he just tring to sound trendy, or is he Eric's actual brother?

Glad you asked! Tim Mills is Eric's brother. Like real biological brother, not like brother from another mother.

The first summer we were writing this blog, Eric (Margo's fiance) journeyed to India (or Tibet?) to save his brother Tim, who was seeking asylum for Tibetan monks who were political prisoners in China and wound up getting arrested. I think. As you can guess, the details were not super clear. After waiting a few months for Eric to come back, and having some Gabriella-like premonitions, Margo journeyed to India to bring back her fiance, dammit. Unfortunately, Eric had died in an avalanche freeing his brother and some monks. But everyone was super grateful to Eric and as a by-product, Margo got to meet the Dalai Lama. I swear that part seriously happened.

So that's it! If you go back to June - August 2008 in the archives you can see the whole thing play out, and observe some slightly more nuanced artwork by Frank Bolle.
