After some research on nurses' caps, they are all but extinct in US hospitals but are still worn in developing nations. They are also used for some nursing school graduations. Kay's Caps (www.kayscaps.com) seems to be the premiere manufacturer of perma-starch nurses' caps.

I'm excited about the possibility of a hospital storyline, but I may be in the minority.
