Like a Rock

If you don't have the drive for the music biz, Dan Diller will drop you like a rock. A mopey, wishy washy rock that he probably forgot he was holding. Or maybe he just fell asleep while the rock was trying to make up its mind.

Is it just me or is not-Paul stealing Tommie's wallet out of her purse in the first panel?

Here is the conversation between Dan and Tommie about drive.

DAN DILLER: Of course, Iris was a great lady. Those are going to be some tough shoes to fill. Everyone loved her. She had such...drive.
TOMMIE (gushing): Yes! Drive!
DAN DILLER: Not many people have drive.
TOMMIE: Well, you know, drive is a tough one. I like to think I have a little drive...not as much as Iris -
DAN DILLER: You can't have "a little drive." You either have drive, or you...don't.
TOMMIE: O.K., fine, I have...no drive.
DAN DILLER: And you can't acquire drive.
TOMMIE: Well, I have no intention of "getting" drive.
DAN DILLER: Drive isn't something you can pick up at the market.
TOMMIE (fed up): Alright, alright, look - I don't have drive, I don't want drive...I don't even say drive, O.K.?
DAN DILLER: Thank you for coming in.
TOMMIE: Yeah, yeah, right.
DAN DILLER: We'll make our choice in a few days, and we'll let you know.
TOMMIE (stands up): I have no chance, do I?
DAN DILLER: No.
